The main reducer serves two purposes, changing the direction of power transmission and acting as an extension of the gearbox to provide a common transmission ratio for all gears.
The output of the gearbox is a torque that rotates about the longitudinal axis, while the wheels must rotate about the horizontal axis of the vehicle. This requires a device to change the direction of power transmission.
The main reducer is so called because the transmission ratio of the device is a factor of the total transmission ratio, no matter what gear the transmission is in. With this transmission ratio,
it can effectively reduce the requirement of the deceleration capacity of the transmission. The advantage of this design is that it can effectively reduce the size of the transmission and make the overall layout of the vehicle more reasonable.
When the transmission speed is reduced through the main reducer, a relatively high output torque can be obtained, so as to obtain a larger driving force. In addition, the main reducer also has the function of changing the power output direction,
realizing the difference between the left and right wheels or the difference between the rear and middle axles.
